I have a passion for education and lifelong learning. I find myself wanting to know a little about a lot of subjects.
I am and will always be a UVU alumni. I graduated with both an Associate and a Bachelor's degree in Paralegal Studies. These degrees have helped me advise students majoring in the Woodbury School of Business. I know the curriculum and what is expected of the students in order to succeed, and I look to the faculty and staff members as my mentors.
I started and completed a Masters in Educational Psychology with an emphasis in Instructional Design and Educational Technology from the University of Utah while advising students. This degree has solidified the approach I take to advising that "Advising is Teaching." In almost every class I have taken, I could relate what I was learning to my job as an academic advisor, which amazed me. I have been able to implement what I have learned in the degree to the Woodbury School of Business Advisement Center. My degree opened up the door for my current position as Advisement Trainer. I am able to use the skills that I learned in the program as I develop online curriculum and trainings.
I am the type of person that enjoys taking a class every semester. While advising business students, I took the same courses that my students took. By taking these courses, I was able to describe to students and prepare them for what is expected of the class. Now I enjoy taking a class that will help me be a well-rounded person. Classes from Information Systems, to Mathematics, and Psychology are just a few that interest me. Currently I am pursing a Certificate of Proficiency in Data Analytics. One day I hope to pursue a Doctorate degree, I'm just not for sure in what.
